Summer Fair

Dear parents

Summer Fair 2018 is now only 5 weeks away! It is a major fundraiser for the school we really need your help and time to make it a success.

A blue form asking for donations and volunteers have been sent via the school bags some days ago. Thank you to everybody who had already offered to help out with/at the Fair. We still need more helpers, so please consider volunteering on the day of the Fair or in the build-up and complete the form and return it to the office. If you misplaced your form, please e-mail  instead.

Also, please keep the donations coming – we need more of these to have the tombolas well stocked for the Fair. The suggested split of donations per class is indicated below but any of the below donations will be greatly received.

Nursery, P1K, P1S, P2C, P2R – Lucky Dip items (small presents, bags of sweets or stationery that cost up to £1)

P3K, P3H/P, P4W, P7M, P7M/R – Chocolate and sweet tombola

P4B, P5/6Mc, P5B, P5D, P6H – Summer Tombola (outdoor toys, bats, balls, buckets\spades, beach inflatables)

Anyone wishing to donate home bakes (no cream or nuts please) – please bring them to the dining hall by 3.15 pm on Friday 22nd June.

As you know, a very important part of this fundraiser is the Raffle. We already have some nice prizes but we would love to see some bigger items added. If you, or the company you work for, are in position to donate a big prize – PLEASE get in touch (the same e-mail as above)!

Thank you for your ongoing support

Fun Run

Harlaw Fun Run Series

Take part in this year’s Active Schools Fun Run Series at Harlaw Road Playing Fields!

Back by popular demand, the Fun Run Series is a great series of running races where children can race against their friends and the clock. Entry to the Fun Run Series is free and with a number of different venues there is a series near you!

Fun Runs are open to all, so if you can’t make it to the Sheddocksley event then why not sign up for another Fun Run on a different day!

P1-P3 races are 400m in length; P4 races are 800m in length and P5-P7 do 1600m. All runners will receive a participation medal if they run in at least 3 races at a venue.

The top boys and girls in each P4-P7 age group will be invited to the Champion of Champions Event on Wednesday 13th June at Harlaw Road Playing Fields.

You will receive a confirmation email once you have booked your tickets. Your Active Schools Coordinator will then be in touch nearer the date of the first race.

Harlaw Road Race Information:

Approximate race times: P1-P3 4.00pm; P4 4.10pm; P5 4.25pm; P6 4.40pm; P7 4.55pm

For these pupils, after you have registered, please contact for further clarification.

Big Garden Tidy Up

The sun was shining and all hands were busy painting, cleaning, sanding, fixing and tidying. Thanks you to all the families who gave up their sunny Saturday to help to make our grounds more beautiful!  The playground will be bright and sunny even if the clouds come!  THANK YOU!

Draft Behaviour Policy

.Dear Parents/Carers, We are reviewing our Behaviour Policy and would be very grateful of your input. Please click on the link in the questionnaire below. We would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions before we publish it. Please state the page number in reference to any comments. Thank you for your time and support.

School will open again at the later time of 9.30am due to continued adverse weather conditions. As there is no supervision in the playground before this time, please do not arrive before 9.30am. This is to ensure we have enough staff for pupil safety. Thank you for your co-operation.

Book Fair is coming!

The book fair arrives in school next week and it would be lovely to have lots of parents involved in the running of each session.

At each session the children have the chance to look at the range of books. Some children bring money for a book that they’ve agreed at home with parents, others just have a browse around, but most write a wish list to bring back home. The wish list gives you an opportunity to discuss and decide whether you would like to buy a book with your child. If so, please send the money back in with your child the next day. A percentage of the book sales is donated back to the school. There is no obligation to buy anything.
The volunteers help the children browse the books, write wish lists and if time permits to sort out any return orders.
You are most welcome to join your class regardless.

To volunteer or for more information please contact Eliz Willox directly on
Thank you for any involvement.
