Cutting the Ribbon at the Co-op

Pupils Officially Open Co-op

The Fountainhall Road Co-op was officially re-opened following refurbishment by pupils on St Joseph’s. Head Boy and Head Girl along with 5 Fairtrade representatives cut the ribbon with staff from the store. As a Fair Acheiver School we were very proud to participate in the event for a company who themselves are great supporters of Fairtrade and have one of the largest selections of Fairtrade products.

The Co-op and H&J Martin (the construction company who undertook the refurbishment) then presented St Joseph’s with a cheque for £250!

At the end of the school day representatives from the Co-op arrived to hand out oranges to parents and children; building on the community and neighbourhood partnership with ourselves and the Co-op.

To continue our relationship, the Co-op have been invited to our school after the Easter holidays to tell us more about their efforts to support Fairtrade and ongoing projects to provide safe drinking water to communities in Africa.
