Scottish Launch of Persecuted and Forgotten? 2015 Report
St Mary’s RC Cathedral, Aberdeen on Thursday 15th October 2015 at 7pm
Attacks on Christian communities in the likes of Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Nigeria over the past 12 to 24 months have put the international spot-light on an otherwise little-known human rights catastrophe of modern times. Christians, the most persecuted faith group, are being driven out of parts of Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East.
The evening will begin at 7pm with Mass, where Bishop Hugh Gilbert (Diocese of Aberdeen) will be the lead celebrant. After Mass, we have invited witnesses from Iraq, Syria and Nigeria to give testimony in the Cathedral Hall.
Due to speak are: Father Douglas Bazi (Iraq) who was tortured by Al-Qaeda and now works in Iraqi displacement camps, Father Ziad Hilal SJ (Syria) who oversaw ACN projects in Homs and Victoria Youhanna (Nigeria), a 16 year old school girl and former prisoner of Boko-Haram.
The event is free, but there will be a collection for projects in Iraq, Syria and Nigeria.
