Fairtrade at St Joseph’s
At St Joseph’s we support Fairtrade. The Fairtrade group would like to share our progress in the Fairtrade Schools Awards. There are 3 categories: FAIRAWARE AWARD, FAIRACTIVE AWARD and FAIRACHIEVER AWARD.
WE ARE A FAIRACHIEVER SCHOOL!!
It was awarded on 11/05/2016
The Fairtrade Group would like to thank everyone’s support for Fairtrade. From pupils buying snacks at our tuckshop, parents constantly supporting our community events and buying Fairtrade uniform, teachers providing learning opportunities about Fairtrade.
This is some of the feedback we have received from the assessors of our application:
“St Joseph’s, you are an amazing school. We are so impressed! You have done so well in embedding Fairtrade in all facets of the school – from Fairtrade tuck shops to including the wider community and holding fundraising events. It is clear to see that you have worked hard to ensure that you raise awareness for Fairtrade both in the school and in the wider community. Well done!”
FAIRTRADE FRIDAY TUCK-SHOP
We run a very popular Tuck-shop on Fridays at break time. We have turned Free Choice Friday into Fairtrade Friday! Check out our new updated tuck-shop price list!
LATEST NEWS!!! (August 2017)
We will no longer sell Giant Buttons or Little Bars, since Cadbury has opted out of Fairtrade accreditation for their products to pursue their own line of supposedly ‘Fairly Traded’ range of products, which we don’t know for sure how much will they look out for the farmers interests. We are not supporting their decision to drop Fairtrade, therefore we will not stock their products any longer.
Also, we have been lucky to keep our prices the same for a very long time. Unfortunately, as of 1st September, many of our items will be charged at a new higher price. Check below for changes:
